Enlargements

The clay enlargement (sometimes in plasticine, but rarely in plaster) is made from the maquette of the work to be cast; clearly, the enlargement entails checking its overall balance and harmony. This procedure can be executed by the artist alone, by the craftsman or in a task of joint co-operation. In such a case, the craftsman arranges and makes up the main body of work (rough sketch) and then the artist himself steps in to finish off and perfect the sculpture.
